Life does not always fit into the official descriptions of what people are supposed to do. Tett argues, ‘Things fall between the cracks. While silos appear to offer security and control, they can also lead to simplification and rigid thinking. Yet, often, the classifications said more about the European observers than the complex local realities of their subjects. In observing, naming and categorizing foreign cultures, animals, plant specimens and geographies, they felt a sense of mastery-and power-over the unfamiliar things they named. This was something that the Victorians loved to do at the height of 19 th century expansionism. If you grew up in a Western country, you’ve probably been immersed in a culture that organizes, classifies and categorises the world in terms of silos. , New Learning Environments for the 21st Century Embracing messy realities: moving beyond a silo mentality It is at the edge that most innovation occurs and where we can discern patterns that indicate new kinds of opportunities and challenges. Silo working is often a result of a siloed organizational culture that does not provide opportunities for collaboration or encourage employees’ buy-in to a unified goal. In this respect, a silo mentality is not necessarily a consciously chosen mentality. Although they might welcome opportunities to share information and knowledge across traditional boundaries, their organisation’s structure, culture and training may not facilitate this way of working. Indeed, groups and individuals may work in silos without realizing that they are doing so. , TED Talk, Get comfortable with being uncomfortableįor Kate Turner, director of Motivational Leadership, working in silos means that groups ‘ do not want to share information or knowledge with other individuals they work with.’ Although Turner is right to reflect on the lack of collaboration that occurs in siloed organisations, her point regarding the intentional nature of silo working, as something that employees actively choose, requires further discussion.

Personal life For the record, WJZ calls it "Eyewitness News at Five" and has an impressive-looking press kit that stresses its "four-member news team - Sally Thorner as news anchor joined by John Buren, Bob Turk and Sandra Pinckney." But Thorner's the franchise. "Tomorrow is opening night for one of the most important productions in the history of Baltimore television - WJZ's new 5 o'clock news with Sally Thorner. On the eve of her return to broadcast news in January 1994, the Sun wrote: In fact, in a noted departure from Baltimore's traditional schema of co-anchors, Thorner was clearly delineated as the marquee player. This move proved front-page fodder for the local newspapers as the advance payment represented WJZ management's confidence in Thorner's ability to win ratings. So, in December 1992, WJZ agreed to pay Thorner a full salary throughout all of 1993 although she would not log one hour on-air. Thorner was not, however, able to immediately begin work at WJZ because of a non-compete clause in her previous contract. Thorner also embodied some of the challenges facing women of her generation, and was open in discussing the choices she made professionally in relation to goals for her family life." But it is her calm and solid presence at the anchor desk that will be missed and remembered most by Baltimore viewers. Īfter Thorner announced her retirement, the Sun's David Zurawik wrote that, "She came to represent local broadcast news at its best - serious, trustworthy and nonsensational, but also reassuring and friendly. Otherwise, the little DLP projector is absolutely sufficient in a dark room, but it cannot replace a high-quality model. However, primarily the projected content would need a higher resolution to create a real cinema feeling. The integrated projector is certainly a nice feature. Lenovo calls the Yoga Tab 3 Pro 10 (YT3-X90L) the ultimate video tablet. Its resolution could definitely be higher, though. However, it is a nice feature for users who occasionally want to project a video, some photos or a presentation on a wall. The projector in the Yoga Tab 3 Pro 10 is certainly not a replacement for a full-fledged device. The sharpness can be controlled via the touchscreen, and tablet normally corrects any potential keystone effects. Here, large deviations from the target colors, which are usually too bright, are noticed. We examined the projector's color reproduction with the photospectrometer and CalMAN. It would be best to darken the room somewhat to achieve a satisfactory result. Generally, the room should not be too bright when using the projector. The kickstand not only can be used for placing the tablet on a flat surface for using the projector, it can also be rotated infinitely by 180 degrees, allowing the user to for example lie down beside the device and project content onto the ceiling. It is not noticed as much when rendering videos. The naked eye already sees that when looking at the Android desktop its reproduction is very grainy. The latter is also primarily due to the projector's low resolution. However, we would not recommend this for practical use because the projector's luminosity is simply too weak and greatly affects the image quality. ![]() That is to enable a projected surface area of up to 70 inches (177.8 cm). The manufacturer states a light intensity of 50 lumens and a resolution of 480p (640x480 pixels). Only two thin plastic hooks, which look very fragile, keep it in place. The card slot's flap under the kickstand does not make a long-lasting impression. Although the tablet can be warped slightly and produces quiet cracking noises, the device is insensitive to pressure. We measured 10.15 millimeters (~0.4 in) at the screen's center edge and 22 millimeters (~0.86 in) at the cylinder bulge. The manufacturer cheats a little about the height and apparently states the lowest height in the technical specs (4.68 mm/~0.18 in). It is even possible to hang up the tablet as an alternative. The device can be set up at 90 degrees in Stand Mode. It can then be placed in Tilt Mode, which is perfect for using the projector. The kickstand is unlocked by pressing a button. It closes absolutely flush with the casing when folded in, and the Yoga-typical bulge makes it comfortable to hold. The tablet's kickstand enables using the device in four different modes. Only the kickstand is metal, and makes a very robust impression. The back features a soft leather cover that enhances the grip and looks good at the same time. However, its casing is made entirely of plastic with an attractive metal look. ![]() Compared with its rivals, Lenovo's Yoga Tab 3 Pro 10 is quite heavy. In the common law tradition, fraudulent conveyances were first formally recognized under The Fraudulent Conveyances Act 1571 (13 Eliz 1, c 5), also known as the Statute of 13 Elizabeth. It is for this very reason that Asset Protection is best served cold. In most cases, after four years a transaction is not voidable. There is generally a limit to how far back a creditor may go to void a transaction. There is essentially a two pronged test to determine if an asset transfer is a fraudulent conveyance: 1) was the asset transferred without adequate consideration (sometimes called “constructive fraud”) UFTA, Sections 4(a)(2)(i), 4(a)(2)(ii), 5(a), and/or 2) was the asset transferred with the actual intent to hinder, delay or defraud any creditor (sometimes called “actual fraud”) UFTA, Section 4(a)(1). a Fraudulent Conveyance is most often determined pursuant to Uniform Voidable Transactions Act ( UVTA), until 2014 known as The Uniform Voidable Transfer Act of 1984, 11 USCA § 548 (“UFTA”). Notably, lawyers may also get caught up in the liability. It is important to note that a fraudulent conveyance can also result in a judgement against the person who first received the transferred property. A fraudulent conveyance may result in a creditor taking something you thought you had put out of harms way, but it won’t land you in jail. It only happens in court proceedings, either civil litigation or bankruptcy. Undoing such a transfer is a remedy implemented as a creditor’s right in debt collection actions. “Clawing back” a transaction is like pulling a nail out of a board with the claws of a hammer. In other words, the transfer can be undone or clawed back in order to satisfy a creditor’s claim. ![]() ![]() A fraudulent conveyance is an asset transfer that is voidable. ![]() First, a fraudulent conveyance has nothing to do with “fraud” per se. |
